Event Description:
The BOAR (Blueprint Obstacle Adventure Race) is back for its second year! The BOAR is a 5K & 1K race to support and spread awareness of youth experiencing homelessness in our community.  It is a family-friendly team-oriented event. It will be open to all ability levels, challenge team members to problem-solve and overcome obstacles together. It is encouraged to participate in teams of two or more.

5K – The 5K is an obstacle race designed to test your mental and physical strength and challenge team members to problem-solve and overcome obstacles together. It will start and finish at Glen Lake Rotary Park (formerly East Gallatin Recreation Area). There will be prizes. A Competitive heat will be available.

  • Age Restriction: The minimum age to race is 10
  • Minors: Minor(s) between the ages of 10-13; must be accompanied by an adult

1K – is a unique opportunity for individuals of all abilities to participate in an obstacle race.  People with developmental and mobility disabilities are welcome.  We want everyone in our community to experience The BOAR and we have designed obstacles to be equitable to most abilities. All Children under the age of 10 need to be accompanied by an adult participant.

  • The terrain of the Course: Hard dirt with uneven ground often.
  • Strollers: The 1K course will be designed to include people using strollers. We do encourage you to ponder can your stroller handle the terrain of the course.
  • Crutches, Canes, or Wheelchair: We welcome these mobility supports and encourage a team to reinforce assistance when needed.

Blueprint’s Continuum History – In November 2015, HRDC opened Blueprint a home dedicated to serving youth experiencing moments of homelessness in Gallatin Valley. On July 4th, 2020 we moved locations and expanded our capacity to support more of our community’s emerging adults with transitional housing. With this expansion, we are now serving youth along a continuum of care from case management services, support services, rent assistance, and long-term housing options.

Blueprint’s transitional housing offers a safe and inclusive environment for our community’s youth, ages 16-24. Blueprint is a youth-centered, strength-based, and solutions-focused program that supports the following areas: educational attainment, employment, development of positive self-image, increase in social competencies, development of healthy boundaries, providing choices, and integrating conflict resolution skills.
